Traditionally, color psychology teaches us that pink is a color of love, harmony, tenderness, affection and friendship. It is also a color representing peace and nurturing. It is the ultimate romantic color. And yes, it is one of the colors associated with womanhood.
However, in design, things are not as simple. Strict divisions such as “blue is for boys, pink is for girls” no longer apply and any designer who’s been paying any attention knows that pink packs so much more potential and meaning than that. In web design, pink can be soothing, calming and neutral, but it can also be electrifying, passionate and strong. It all depends on how it’s used and, even more so, how it’s combined. We’ve been witnessing a rise of color combinations featuring pink over the last years and designers are becoming more daring when it comes to matching pink with tones that were previously considered a design no-no. Thanks to this, we can now enjoy a number of exciting combinations bringing forth complex meanings and creating astonishing effects.
