In this post we are going to look at the benefits, available tools and a few common patterns to use source control with a WordPress powered website.

Source control is quite a generalisation. There are many source control implementations. The two biggest are GIT and SVN.

For the purposes of this post we are going to be talking about GIT as a source control tool, after all it’s in our name.
